Bailer, Dr. Heiko (Head of ESG Quantitative Investments – RepRisk)

Dr. Heiko Bailer joined RepRisk in 2019 and is responsible for building RepRisk’s quantitative investment business. As a former hedge fund manager, he is an expert in quantitative trading strategies.

Prior to joining RepRisk, Heiko co-founded the Swiss Fintech SmartStamp AG, as well as traded long/short US equities at GLAM, Goldcorp Land Asset Manager. Subsequent to that, Heiko was CIO at Swiss Trust Advisors AG and Plenum Investments.

Other previous appointments include: Head of Quantitative Solutions and Asset Allocation at Credit Suisse, Deputy CRO at Harcourt Investment Consulting, Director at Delta One Trading ABN AMRO London, and desk rotations at Deutsche Bank Global Markets in New York, Tokyo, and London.

Heiko received his Master of Science from Ludwig Maximilian University, in Munich, and his PhD in Applied Statistics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA.

Baldoni, Daniela (Lecturer for CAS Compliance and Collective Investments Schemes)

Msc in Physics (Major in Chaotic behaviour), then Msc in Economics&Law (Major in Financial Market Regulation.

She has an extensive experience in the compliance domain, having worked for international financial intermediaries (banks, asset managers, fund managers) as Chief compliance officer and Regulatory Leader.

She is specialised in KYC onboarding, code of conduct (MiFID and FIDLEG) and licensing.

Daniela Baldoni is also a lecturer for CAS Compliance and Collective Investments Schemes.

Berney, Frédéric (Partner – iGravity)

Frédéric Berney is a partner and head of Risk within iGravity AG. He chairs the Investment Committee of the Investment Solutions department and is responsible for developing adequate structures for all types of investors willing to make impact investments.

Frederic has 25 years of experience in the financial industry heading various risk management positions abroad and in Switzerland. He was previously the CRO of BlueOrchard for 6 years and holds currently the chairmanship of the Luxembourg flagships Funds of BlueOrchard. Prior this he was partner and CRO at Harcourt Investment Consulting, a Hedge Fund boutique.

Frédéric holds a Bachelor’s degree Economics as well as a Master in Banking and Finance from HEC Lausanne, Switzerland and speaks French, English, German and Italian.

Bissoli, Roberto (Chairman, Niche Asset Management)

Roberto is Chairman of the Board of the London based Niche Asset Management Ltd and Associate Director of RMC Wise, service provider in the regulatory field.

Roberto has held several senior roles in the asset management companies, both in the UK and in Switzerland, where he was Deputy-CEO of Saint George Capital Management (Unipol-SAI Insurance Group). His background is strongly anchored to alternative investments and he began his career as portfolio manager for relative value strategies.

Roberto holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Turin Polytechnic (cum Laude) and several financial certifications, including CAIA, FRM and AZEK/CIWM.

Bosco, Matteo (Partner – Conser Invest)

Matteo Bosco graduated HEC at the University of Lausanne, worked 18 years at Credit Suisse in the corporate department for multinational clients in Zurich and then in the asset management where he led the asset management division in Italy from 2001 till 2009. He then spent 8 years with Aberdeen Asset Management where he lead the region Switzerland and Southern Europe.
In 2018 Matteo joined Conser, a portfolio sustainability check fin-tech solution.

Bottoli, Roberto (Investment Director – GAM)

Roberto Bottoli is an Investment Director  in the Global Growth Equity team responsible for the management of GAM Star (Lux) Merger Arbitrage. Prior to joining GAM Investments in July 2016, he spent 17 years at Allianz Global Investors, first in Milan, then in Frankfurt. During his time at Allianz, Roberto Bottoli was responsible for absolute return and multi asset portfolios. He also launched and managed a risk-constrained, UCITS-compliant merger arbitrage strategy as part of a wider absolute return investment process. He joined Allianz in 1999 working in the field of risk management. Later he moved to the quantitative management team, where he was involved in the launch of the first directly managed product with capital guarantee. Roberto Bottoli holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University, Italy and is a CFA charterholder. He is based in Lugano, Switzerland.

Caldato, Fabio (CIO – Olympia Wealth Management)

Fabio graduated at Padua University. He started out his career as trader in derivative instruments. He then became sales team manager at Euroforex and FX broker in Milan.
Later, he covered the position of director for Forex47 in Milan. In 2010 he became business development manager at Asset Management in London. In 2017 he became partner of Olympia where he is specialized in the development of mutual funds.

Campanelli, Francesca (Chief Commercial Officer – Axyion AI)

Francesca is Chief Commercial Officer at AxyonAI, a technology company leader in AI solutions for Asset Management. Previously she was Head of Product Development at Quaestio Capital Management. With almost 20 years of experience, Francesca worked with different roles in the Asset Management Industry. Before Quaestio, she was Country Manager for a specialised Corporate Credit Asset Manager, Muzinich&Co, based in NY, leading the Italian Office. Under her responsibility Muzinich Italian branch carried out several pioneering initiatives in the private markets area. Before that she worked at Blackrock, the biggest Asset Manager in the world, as Wholesale Sales. Paola is currently Head of the legal division of the Centro Studi Villa Negroni, where she is leading educational paths and she is speaker and lecturer in various courses, including financial services regulation, market abuse and sustainable finance. Her contribution includes publications in the field of sustainable regulation.

Previously, she worked almost 20 years as lawyer at BSI Bank and EFG Bank with strong expertise in wealth management, financial markets and products as well as regulatory issues

Frascà, Riccardo (CEO – First Solutions)

Riccardo started his career as private banker and area manager in Prime Consult/Banca Generali. He later became product development manager at Ubi Banca Private Investment and then Senior Sales for the Italian market on behalf of Sal Oppenheim Bank and Macquarie Bank.
In 2012 he founded First Solutions Ltd, firm specialized in structured products consultancy, in which he holds the position of CEO.

Frésard, Dr. Laurent (Professor of Finance – USI)

Laurent Frésard is Professor of Finance at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and holds an SFI Senior Chair. Previously, he was a Professor at HEC Paris and the University of Maryland. He is a regular speaker at leading finance conferences worldwide and his research has been published in top academic journals. His research mainly studies the connections between finance and the real economy. His most recent research focuses on the role of big data for the efficiency of financial markets. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Neuchatel

Nowak, Dr. Eric (Professor at USI – Director of the Swiss Finance Institute Lugano)

Eric Nowak is Full Professor at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) where he is Director of the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) Lugano / Istituto di Finanza (IFIN). Since 2016 he is the Director of the Master in Financial Technology and Computing (Fintech). His research on corporate governance, private equity, and IPOs was published in leading international journals such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Business Venturing, and Business History, and he co‐authors a textbook on Corporate Governance. Prof. Nowak studied at the Universities of St. Gallen (HSG), Bocconi, and Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from HSG and obtained his venia legendi in Business Administration from the Goethe University of Frankfurt. From 2010‐2011 he served as the Rock Center for Corporate Governance Visiting Scholar at Stanford University. From 2017‐18 he was Senior Visiting Professor in Risk Management at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Since 2016 he is Adjunct Professor at the Luxembourg School of Finance.

Eric has a wide range of practical experience in Hedge Funds and knowledge in entrepreneurship from Fintech start‐ups. Among the start‐ups he has co‐founded, he still is in the supervisory board of IRX Investor Relations Exchange formerly aktionaersforum AG, an online shareholder communication company, he was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Swiss Rating Agency SA, and member of the
scientific board of CEPRES GmbH, a web‐interfaced private equity data provider. In 2010, he had cofounded Aurarius Fund, a Volatility Arbitrage Hedge Fund, which had been active in trading until 2013 and received the Investors Choice Award as Emerging Volatility & Tail Hedge Fund of The Year 2012.

Professor Nowak maintains close cooperative relationships with Swiss and European policymakers and regulators. He has frequently testified as an academic expert for SIX Swiss Exchange Regulation, the European Parliament, the German Ministry of Finance, and the German Parliament (Finanzausschuss und Rechtsausschuss des Deutschen Bundestages zu Fragen der Vorstandshaftung). He also was OECD Consultant on Corporate Governance of Non‐Listed Companies. He is frequently cited in the media and was referred to as “The Corporate Governance Specialist” by Manager Magazin and AFP.

Oliver Oehri is Co-head of the FE fundinfo ESG Product Group and an internationally renowned expert on ESG & climate investment assessments. He is a guest lecturer at several European universities and professional finance associations (e.g. Swiss Pensionfund Association). Oliver also works as an ESG expert for governments (Swiss Federal Office for the Environment, German Ministry of Finance) as well as NGOs (WWF). Poretti, Pietro (Responsible for economic development department – Città diLugano)

Schlichting, Lars (DLT Lawyer – Partner Kellerhals Carrard)

During his professional experience Lars has always worked in the regulated field, first as an employee of the Swiss financial regulator (former Swiss federal banking commission, now FINMA), then within KPMG as responsible for the legal/regulatory area in Ticino/Switzerland.

In 2016 Lars began to devote himself to the blockchain and crypto sector, advising especially crypto funds, crypto exchangers and as legal/tax advisor to different Token Offering. In this field, he advised clients in the whole process, starting from the structuring of the coin, the ruling with the supervision and the tax authorities, the drafting of the white paper and of the Terms & Conditions of the ICOs. In 2020 he established one of the first company with a contribution in crypto and the tokenization of the shares.

Since 2018 Lars runs different ventures in the blockchain and crypto field like BitIncubator & Ventures SA, a Swiss based company which manages ibx.ch, the digital asset platform on the blockchain or the Poseidon Group, including the wallet application Eidoo and the DeFi crosschain token PNT. In addition to that, Lars joins Kellerhals Carrard in Lugano, where he is leading its blockchain practice.

Lars is also member of the Executive Committee of the Ticino Blockchain Technology Association, Head of the Southern Chapter of the CryptoValley Association and member of the advisory board of the Swiss LegalTech Association.

During his working experience, Lars has written different contributions on regulatory laws, including Money Laundering, Stock Exchange Act, Banking Act and Automatic Exchange of Information. He has also written a book on consolidated supervision of legal and reputational risks within financial groups.

Lars today is also introducing the blockchain technology to institutional entities.

Stefan Schwitter has 25 years of relevant experience in executive and senior roles in Wealth-, Asset Management and Trading. Before joining SEBA Bank as head investment solutions, Stefan ran the global Investment & Products division for VP Bank Group. Before that he lead the Investment Services Europe department for LGT Bank and the global Active Advisory for EFG Bank. Previously, she worked as a United States economist in the Edmond de Rothschild Group’s Economic Research department where she was in charge of the structural and cyclical analysis of the United States.

Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild in 2014, Lisa Turk has had extended experience as a risk analyst at Goldman Sachs in London as well as at the Bank of Luxembourg, and as an analyst in the investment strategy department at Edmond de Rothschild Luxembourg.

Paul Weber has a 30+ year long experience in in banking market operations (buy and sell-side) and in the Swiss indipendent asset manager (EAM) space.

His career spans the operations environment comprising back office, treasury and forex, execution and advice on cash and listed derivatives markets ,for both retail and institutional clients, at several private banks.

Within the indipendent asset management universe he was responsible for operations with the custodian banks, and the reconciliation and risk management processes.

Weideborg, Sven (Sales Director Switzerland – Janus Henderson Investors)

Sven is Sales Director for Ticino and Romandy and is based in Geneva.

Sven joined Janus Henderson Investor in 2014 as a Sales Manager. Previously, he was at Amundi from 2005, responsible for fund distribution to private banks, family offices and independent asset managers in Switzerland, while based in Paris and Geneva.

Sven started his career at HSBC Investments in Paris in 2003. He holds a Bachelor degree in international business from the Paris Graduate School of Management.

Wendt, Karen (Editor of Sustainable Finance Science Series)

Karen Wendt is an investment banker and has shaped Eastern Europe strategy at prominent European institutions before moving on to structured finance. Since 2001 she pioneered for two investment banks in introducing extra-financial risk management in structured finance, export finance and M&A transations and introduced also ESG strategies in asset management with her team as Head of Extra-Financial Risk Management.
