Registration at Events Promoted by FinLantern

Participation in events promoted by FinLantern is reserved for users registered with the FinLantern Community and is subject to providing the data requested at registration (such as name, company, job title and contact details), which is also necessary for organisational and security reasons. TLR reserves the right to assess registrations and to refuse admission to anyone who does not provide such data. The processing of this data is governed by our Privacy Policy; optional uses, such as the disclosure of data to the partners of an event where indicated on the registration page, do not affect participation. TLR undertakes not to use data reported as incorrect.

For events organised by FinLantern on behalf of third parties, registration data is passed on to the company for which the event is organised, as stated on the registration page and described in our Privacy Policy.

You can exercise your right to object to or prohibit the collection, use or publication of your personal data, including the right to refuse or withdraw your consent at any time and for any purpose, as well as the right to correct, complete or make unavailable your personal data (see the Privacy Policy).

Please note that “Crazy Early Bird” and “Early Bird” tickets are not refundable in case of cancellation.

Standard tickets can be refunded if the cancellation is communicated at least 2 weeks before the event. Cancellations must be communicated by email to: subscriptions@finlantern.com

FinLantern Community

The FinLantern Community (http://community.FinLantern.com/) is the community tool of the FinLantern brand, operated by “The Lantern” Research SA (TLR), a Swiss-based company.

By registering with the FinLantern Community, even if you have been invited by FinLantern (as organiser of financial events), You expressly accept to be contacted by other professionals present on the platform. Any selection you make in connection with the platform shall be made under your own exclusive and full responsibility, and you fully discharge TLR of any liability in connection therewith. This also applies to the event app made available for FinLantern events, through which delegates, speakers, sponsors and partners may contact each other. Your profile is visible in the event app by default; you can hide it at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy.

As a Member (i.e. a user of our Website who has created an account) of the FinLantern Community, you may interact with other Members, who may be located in a country different from yours and who may be restricted by applicable legislation from marketing or offering certain services or products to you.

You understand and agree that other Members may therefore refuse to make contact with you, or to market or offer services to you, based on their own assessment of their compliance duties under (cross-border) regulations applicable to them.

TLR does not guarantee or represent that you will have full and unlimited access to all other Members through the FinLantern Community, and you acknowledge that you will have no recourse against TLR for any refusal or limitation of contact by any such other Members.

You acknowledge that TLR cannot (and does not) assess whether contacts (e.g. chats, calls, downloads of documentation, etc.) you may have with other Members occur in violation of regulations applicable to other Members or to yourself, and that TLR may not monitor contacts you have with other Members. You therefore accept and agree that TLR has no obligation to intervene in, or interrupt, such contacts. Notwithstanding the foregoing, TLR will not tolerate actions or contacts which are contrary to applicable regulations and retains the right, on becoming aware of such actions or contacts, to take any appropriate action, including immediately terminating access to the FinLantern Community for any Members involved and revoking access privileges without notice or compensation.

As a Member, you acknowledge that you must make your own assessment as to whether contacts, including meeting requests and offers of services or products you may propose to (or accept from) other Members, comply with applicable regulations. You hereby agree to comply with such applicable regulations and fully discharge TLR of any liability in connection therewith.

You acknowledge that you must make your own assessments, with the help of your own advisers where appropriate, in connection with offers of services or products, including investment products, which may be advertised to you through the FinLantern Community. You understand that services or products advertised to you may not be appropriate or suitable for you and/or may not even be legal for you to purchase or subscribe to, and/or may result, when accepted or subscribed to, in various financial and legal risks and possibly total loss. You acknowledge that TLR does not endorse or recommend any such products or services, does not in any way advise you in connection with such offers, and does not hold itself out in any way as your fiduciary in connection with such products or services. You fully discharge TLR of any liability in connection therewith.

Accuracy of Your Personal Information

You are responsible for periodically checking that any personal information and picture in your FinLantern Community profile is up to date and correct.

Moreover, You must protect and keep secret your password at all times and must not allow any third party, directly or indirectly, to use your membership, username or password.

  • contain intentionally false or misleading statements;
  • offer to buy, sell or broker an investment;
  • breach insider dealing regulations or confidentiality agreements;
  • involve commercial activities and/or sales without our prior written consent, such as contests, sweepstakes, group-buying, advertising or pyramid schemes;

    • promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age; or
    • is likely to deceive any person;
  • use invalid or forged headers to disguise the origin of any Contribution, or otherwise misrepresent yourself or the source of any Contribution;

Changes to the Terms of Use

TLR reserves the right to change these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication on the Website; in the case of significant changes, we will notify registered users. We encourage You to review our Terms of Use regularly so that You are aware of any changes. Your continued use of any part of the Website following such changes shall be deemed to be your acceptance of the amended Terms. If You do not accept any such changes, You should stop using our Website.

If You have further questions about our Terms of Use, please send an email to subscriptions@finlantern.com.

Breaches and Termination

You agree that TLR may terminate your membership or the agreement constituted by these Terms (as TLR may choose) and restrict your access to the Website (or part thereof), without prejudice to any other rights or remedies that TLR may have, if TLR is of the reasonable opinion that you have breached these Terms or acted inconsistently with their spirit.

You agree to indemnify TLR against any and all actions, claims, costs, proceedings, losses, damages or liabilities arising from your use of the Website (including without limitation Contributions) and/or in relation to any information or data you use or access by means of the Website.

You acknowledge that a breach of these Terms may give rise to civil damages and criminal penalties. TLR reserves the right to take action against you to uphold these Terms and its rights, which may involve pursuing injunctive proceedings.

Venue and Applicable Law

These Terms of Use, explicitly read and approved by You, shall be governed by Swiss law. The sole judicial venue for all disputes, claims or matters which may arise under or in connection with these Terms of Use shall be Lugano.
